Sunday 17th May - bike ***** - Felixstowe to Newbourne Church – Sunny and
warm.
With wall to wall sunshine and light airs forecast it was too good an
opportunity to miss going out on our bikes but choosing a destination is
coming hard as we have covered pretty much the whole of the area around
Felixstowe! On our last ride to Kirton Creek I noticed a lovely little
church at Newbourne so suggested we take our breakfast there to check it
out. Leaving home at 9.15 we headed to the Grove playing field going down a
cow paisley track, this very under rated weed has been the highlight of
loads of our bikes rides covering the country lanes in banks of while
blossom :) Then Candlet Lane as usual and a variety of lanes and footpaths
lead us to the Kirton road, past pickers out cutting asparagus, whizzing
down some nice hills as a Muntjac deer ambles across the road in front of
us ending up at the quaint little church at 10.15. There was the perfect
seat by the door to enjoy our cuppa and savoury muffins and relax in the
warm sunshine before heading back to Newbourne park and down through the
plantation of trees along the wooden walkway, very lovely it was too! We
continued past Hemley church and down to Kirton Creek, then back to Trimley
along a variety of bridle ways and footpaths, across pea and potato fields
coming out on the Trimley High road. We don’t like the busy road so head
over to Blofield Lane ending up at the footpath by the railway line,
through the council houses coming out at Lidl. Then I check the sea from
the cliff top at the end of our road as the wind had picked up and it looks
promising for a sea breeze and perhaps some foiling later??? So, another
great bike ride in perfect weather, out 3hrs 20 mins covering nearly 20
miles! Mag then heads to Morrison shopping while I do my exercises in the
back garden. Felixstowe is busy and there is a big que at Morrisons so Mag
ends up at Tesco. With shopping and exercise done we can relax in the
garden with a sandwich and then I decide to have a run down to The Manor to
check the conditions?
